BBQ date nights in Houston are the perfect idea for a special night out, without the pressure of fancy white tablecloths. We recommend finding an authentic smokehouse that focuses on vibes, not dress codes.

But with that comes the pressure to end up choosing an underwhelming BBQ joint. At Goode Co. Barbeque, we prevent that by mastering the laid-back experience and serving incredible food.

We’re here to provide some tips to make your experience as memorable as any fine-dining restaurant, but with that casual, relaxed experience you’re after:

Why BBQs Make for the Best Kind of Date Night?

What’s the criteria for a great date night? We believe it’s:

  1. Having a connection.
  2. Enjoying great food.
  3. Making it memorable.

An Atmosphere for Fun

Getting that special chemistry and connection can be hard in a super fancy, fine-dining setting. And it can be even worse in mediocre restaurants. But quality barbeque restaurants can give you a laid-back vibe that invites laughter, casual conversation, and the ability to let your hair down. So, step one is complete.

The Relaxed, Delicious Food

Step two – the food. Needless to say, authentic Texan barbeque food is unbeatable. Brisket that’s been slow-smoked for more than 10 hours, homemade sides, tender, smoky ribs, and a cold beer? Yes please! And, it’s the type of food that is okay to get a little messy with. So, everyone’s relaxed, leading to a closer connection and the ability to be yourself.

It Can’t Be Unforgettable

Finally, step 3 – make it memorable. We believe the first two steps already help in achieving this. But, at a smokehouse like our Goode Co. Barbeque restaurant, it’s an unforgettable experience due to the great vibes, classic Texan decor, and the best barbeque food around.

So, if you’re taking someone on a new date, they’ll remember to call you again, and if it’s your existing partner, well, you’ll be making a new fond memory to look back on.

When Is the Best Time To Go on a BBQ Date Night in Houston?

Your night largely depends on the atmosphere you want to create. If you’re after a slightly calmer, less crowded experience, a weeknight is advised. Naturally, Friday and weekends are always much busier and louder. But that creates a livelier atmosphere, especially when there’s live music!

If you’ve only got the weekend for your date and still want to beat the crowds, consider arriving before 7:30 pm.

Regardless, with Goode Co. Barbeque, you can reserve a table in advance to guarantee your date night starts smoothly.

What to Order?

Barbeque date night means you avoid the fear of ordering something that fills you with anxiety to eat neatly, because everyone is eating a little messily!

We recommend going for a meat of your choice served with jalapeño cheese breads, two sides, or a loaded baked potato.

For fun, you can consider sharing a three-meat combo too. Go for a beef brisket, pork ribs, and a Czech sausage combo. You can’t get much more authentically Houston than that, as our Czech sausages are based on an original, traditional Czech recipe, and our brisket and ribs are smoked over mesquite wood.

What to Wear?

Hey, we’re not here to give fashion advice to woo your date. Be yourself, right?

But, with the heat of Houston and the relaxed vibe of Goode Co. Barbeque, you’ll want something that hits the sweet spot between laid-back comfort and put-together charm.

For the men, a button-down shirt or clean, fitted t-shirt with jeans and casual shoes is always a good fit here. For women, keep it casual and not overly formal.

Which Restaurant is the Best for a BBQ in Houston for Couples?

Yeah, we’re going to blow our own trumpet here. Because, as we’ve been serving up authentic Texan barbeques since 1977, we feel we’ve got solid evidence to be the best barbeque restaurant in Houston, Texas.

Our antebellum beauty, ‘The Memorial’, is perfect for a casual date night, with two floors offering a relaxed, Texan atmosphere, a porch of live music, pretty chandeliers, and lovely, local hospitality.

Extend the Night

Just off Katy Freeway at ‘8911 Katy Freeway’, Memorial Park is conveniently located and not far (just a 7-minute drive)  if you want to take a romantic walk in nature after your meal.

You can also take home some goodies from our shop, such as Goode Co.’s original barbeque sauce or rubs, or our delicious pralines. Don’t forget to get a selfie by our mesquite pit or neon sign before you leave, too. It’s part of the ritual.

Embrace the Culture

If you’re inviting someone new to Texas on a date, then this is your chance to indulge them in authentic Southern culture. Barbeque culture here is different from the rest of the country. From our mesquite-wood smoking technique to the charm and hospitality of our restaurants, your date will get a taste of our local culture. It shows thoughtfulness.
