It’s dinner time in Houston. You’re hungry. You want something far better than the usual takeout. So, you’re on your way to Goode Co. Barbeque, because you’ve heard we serve authentic, Texas-smoked meats and southern sides. But now what? What do you order?

Fear not, my hungry friend! We’re here to help. This guide will show you which signature BBQ plates suit your taste and what to pair them with. Anyway, enough chit chat; you’re hungry, let’s get into it.

What Should I Order at Goode Co. Barbeque?

I want beef. And I want it, Texan.

If you want no-nonsense, authentic Texan red-blooded meat, then go for our beef brisket. It’s the best BBQ plate in Houston and our signature BBQ. It’s been carefully slow-smoked for around 16 hours over mesquite wood—the true Texan way. To be honest, this is THE dish to try at Goode Co. Barbeque if you’re stuck.

Pairing for Brisket:

You can’t go wrong with that. But be careful with the side. It needs to complement that rich smoke taste, without overwhelming you. So, go for something that contrasts, like a cool creamy coleslaw or potato salad. Mac and cheese is also a great side dish, if you want to double down on indulgence. Or, you could go for a stuffed or loaded baked potato!

I want chicken.

For the white meat lovers, it’s the half chicken that’s going to grab your attention. But we recommend the mesquite-smoked turkey breast. It’s a masterpiece of tender turkey, coated with our special glaze.

Pairing for Turkey Breast:

Turkey is also naturally on the drier side, so you’ll want to combine it with something that adds moisture and balances the meat. Go for our Mac and Cheese, Cole Slaw, or creamy potato salad.

I want pork.

Ok, well then you surely like ribs. And our ribs are the real deal and a fan favorite. They fall off the bone at the first bite, dripping in our gorgeous original barbeque sauce. Oh, and of course, they’ve been slow-smoked for that incredible outer layer.

If ribs aren’t your thing, then go for a combination of our Czech sausage and Jalapeño pork sausages. Rich in protein, they’re made with our long-standing traditional Houston-based recipe and are entirely handcrafted.

Pairing for Ribs and Sausages:

Ribs need something to cut through the fat warmth of ribs, so coleslaw’s crunchy and tangy tones are always a hit. If you want something on the warmer side, go for Jalapeno Pinto Beans or Austin Baked Beans. They have a rich, smoky flavor.

But, if you want to do it the true Texan way, go for the Jalapeno Cheese Bread. That always hits hard and can be used to clear up any leftover Goode Co. Original sauce you’ve left on your plate.

I prefer sandwiches!

Bread fans, don’t worry. You’re covered here. At Goode Co. Barbeque, we’ve got a choice of barbeque sandwiches and barbeque po-boys.

If you’re going for the sandwich, we say go with sliced beef brisket and a healthy dose of original barbeque sauce. If you want a po-boy with fresh French bread, you can try a combo of meats. Turkey breast and jalapeno pork sausage work pretty well!

Pairing for Sandwiches:

You’ve got the freedom here. Something creamy always goes well with all that bread. Potato salad and good old southern-style coleslaw, please.

For Kids

Kids, you can’t go wrong with a barbeque sandwich. Easy and tasty. We recommend mac and cheese, but if you’re feeling adventurous, take a potato salad or baked beans. And don’t forget your 10-oz drink.

Desserts

While we’ve got a selection of different desserts to pick from, you should go for the Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie if you want an authentic Texan finale.  Count your lucky Texan stars—you’ll never taste a gooier pecan pie. It’s made with genuine Brazos pecans.

If you don’t like pecans (we’re shook), then go for our Chocolate Cream Pie—or handmade pralines, for a smaller treat.

What Drinks Pair Best with My BBQ?

Sliced sausage lying on a wooden carving board with a few serving plates, a bowl of BBQ sauce, and some sliced jalapeno bread.

Soft Drinks

Cool sodas and iced teas have a sweetness that pairs well with turkey breast, while spicy flavors can be tempered with citrus or ginger sodas. Sodas also go great with ribs. Iced tea is a classic with brisket, too!

Ice Cold Beer

We’ve got both domestic and premium ice-cold beers at Goode Co. Barbeque, which pair perfectly with brisket, ribs, and sausages. That smoky taste just blends with perfection.

Wine

Red wine is always a good fit for red-blooded meats like Brisket, Ribs, and sausages. And, hey, it works with turkey breast, too. But, we don’t recommend it as much with the spicy dishes.

What to Order for Big Groups?

If you’re looking for takeout, enjoy our Party Packs. We’ve got packs for 4, 6, 10, and 16 hungry mouths. These are popular after coming back from NRG Stadium or Rice University, giving everyone an easy and incredible barbeque to eat back at home.

Can You Smoke My Meat?

At Goode Co., we smoke all our meats for up to 16 hours! But you can also drop off your own thawed meats (10lb minimum). Just drop it off at least 24 hours in advance, and we’ll take care of the rest, smoking it over mesquite wood. We can also debone and slice it.
